Editor's note: I worked at the North Penn Reporter in the 1970s, so I frequented many of Lansdale's legendary locales for dining. Our family moved from the area for 30 years, then boomeranged back to Lansdale around 2013.
Curious about what eateries were available, I Googled “Lansdale restaurants.” What came up first in the search results? The North Penn Hernia Institute, which apparently wanted to give incoming patients some less-than-painful dining ideas. That just did not seem right. Lansdale deserves better, I thought. Today there are a number of third-party generic guides. But that first impression still bothered me. Lansdale is a dining destination; it still deserves its own guide. So we’re offering our first Dining Guide to all of our town’s tastiest treats. No matter what you’re looking for — Asian to Indian, Italian to American, Central American to southern-style BBQ — Lansdale hosts delicious answers for you. In these pages you’ll find dozens of options (some you may not yet have tried but should) in and around the borough. Check out the choices, call or visit online for menus and hours, and have a scrumptious time wherever you choose, dining in or taking out. We will be updating this guide regularly, year-round, so that when people in town or on the way wonder where to eat, they will have a home-grown answer.
