One sweet celebration:
Lansdale 150 continues

Click here to visit this site's updated Events 2022 page!

Coming up next: Strawberry Fest June 4; Garden Tour July 9; Community Day in The Park July 16; Dealers Through the Decades Car Show July 30!

With the Old Time Baseball Weekend under our (somewhat soggy) belts, the Lansdale Sesquicentennial season is rolling on!

First, thanks to everyone who made Baseball Weekend special: Well Crafted Beer; vintage baseball teams Brandywine Base Ball Club and Elizabeth Resolutes; the Cannoneers Club; the North Penn Junior ROTC; and, last but not least, the Phillie Phanatic for brightening up our overcast spirits! Click here for the wrapup!

Now, here's what you need to know next:
  • On Saturday, June 4, as part of the huge Lansdale Day festivities hosted by our friends at the Rotary Club of North Penn, we will be bringing back a sweet downtown tradition with the 150 Strawberry Fest at the Fairmount Fire House on Vine Street. Tickets available in advance from Lansdale Borough Hall or at First Friday June 3, or at the door. Please join us for a true taste of early summer!
  • Sign up NOW for a table at our 150 Day in the Park and Community Yard Sale, coming July 16. Clear out your garage or just come to browse while enjoying everything Lansdale, with games, goodies, music -- and the dedication of the Michael DiNunzio Memorial Gazebo in the center of Memorial Park. All are welcome; registration deadline is July 2.
  • And, while we're talking about the Gazebo, head to our Brick Sale page and, if you haven't already inscribed your message, you've got a second chance. Due to demand, we'll add a second set of bricks to the walkway this fall.
  • Got an antique vehicle to show? Wheel it in for our special look at the conveyances that moved Lansdale in our Dealers Through the Decades Car Show on July 30. Registration form is here.
  • One more major participation ask -- have your school, organization or business (or your family!) join us as we march down Main on Saturday, Aug. 20, in the Lansdale 150 Anniversary Parade. It kicks off our biggest week: Founders 150 Week Aug. 20-28. We start with the parade, continue with a community picnic on our actual birthday Aug. 24, pumping up our annual Founders Day events for an even bigger blast Aug. 27, and commemorate the naming of the Lansdale SEPTA passenger station to the National Register of Historic Places on Sunday morning, Aug. 28!

Please also keep in mind other events combining to make 2022 the biggest year in town in... oh, say, a half-century or more!
  • First Fridays, June 3 (early Dog Days) and July 1 (America!)
  • Lansdale Open Gardens Tour, a Lansdale 150 affiliated event, spotlights more than two dozen spectacular gardens all around town July 9 (self guided).
  • Cars Under The Lights, organized by and for the benefit of the Fairmount Fire Company, June 18.
  • The return of the Lansdale Beer Tasting Fest, June 25 from noon to 4 p.m., at Cannoneers Field off Fifth Street. Tickets are limited, get yours now!

All this, and more, combine to make the Lansdale Sesquicentennial Celebration a birthday year the town will be talking about for decades to come! Thank you for your support -- and for helping make Lansdale the great little community it is today.

Pa. Awards Historic Planning Grant To Freight House Project

We at Discover Lansdale are proud to announce that our civic nonprofit has been awarded a 2021 Keystone Preservation Planning Grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

The $14,310 grant is designated for the planning, promotion, and development of historic resources. Discover Lansdale applied for the grant to help fund construction plans and design documents to prepare for the historic rehabilitation project at the stately stone Freight House on South Broad Street.

The grant is a 50% match; Discover Lansdale is required to fund the remaining half by donations, sponsorships or other means.

"This is pretty exciting for us,” said Bill Henning, who chairs Discover Lansdale’s Freight House Committee. “This project, near and dear to our hearts, has been slow going, but this Keystone grant is a much-needed step toward our goal of preserving and repurposing this historic building for use by the entire Lansdale community."

Work Continues On Lansdale's Historic Freight House Project

Watch for new volunteer opportunities as work continues at Lansdale's historic Reading Freight House.

Discover Lansdale just finished rehabilitating the stone work and door sills along the new Liberty Bell Trail, with exceptional work done by our friends at John Kleckner Concrete and Masonry.

The exterior deck and old crane hoist are gone, and the deck's stone piers, made of the same stone as the building, were saved to be reclaimed.

The old wood flooring is still available for sale, in varying lengths at $6 per foot. And we will be selling souvenir benches made from that wood in the near future. All income goes right to the restoration fund.

Also, please consider donating to the effort. Our goal is to restore this glorious structure to the community, and make it a central venue and borough resource for the entire area. Whether you can donate or volunteer, all help and support is gratefully appreciated.
